Microsoft OneDrive is now optimized for Apple M1 chips

Support for OneDrive for M1 family CPUs in “GA” (the company calls software update available to everyone as “GA”). Folder Backup (Known Folder Move) functionality for macOS has also been provided as a Public Preview by Microsoft. DropBox published an internal build with native M1 compatibility in October 2021, with the public release scheduled in the first part of 2022.

Late last year, Microsoft began testing OneDrive with Apple chipset compatibility. This implies that OneDrive will be able to take full use of Apple’s performance enhancements. On a Mac, you can get the version 22.022 update via the OneDrive settings menu. It is strongly advised that you do so as soon as possible, particularly if you own an M1 machine.
